Portugal Producer Prices Fall Further

Portugal’s producer prices decreased for the seventh successive month in October, figures from Statistics Portugal showed on Monday.

The producer price index fell 5.0 percent year-on-year in February, slower than the 5.2 percent rise in the previous month.

The downward trend was largely driven by a 14.8 percent decline in prices for energy goods and a 6.0 percent fall in the intermediate goods segment.

Excluding the energy group, producer prices decreased at a stable rate of 1.9 percent in October.

On a monthly basis, producer prices edged down 0.2 percent in October, reversing a 0.2 percent increase in September.
